Prayer Concerns for the week of June 10, 2013

Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam

· Please keep in prayer children who have been trafficked out of their home countries to work in other countries. Pray for children throughout Southeast Asia who are recruited, coerced, or abducted for purposes of exploitation. Pray for the tens of thousands of children and people who are vulnerable to being trafficked in this part of the world. http://tinyurl.com/bwahbkq

· Pray the 10 member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) would work together to find a solution to the complex issue of trafficking in persons. Pray for trust and cooperation between governments as they seek to help victims of trafficking and commercial exploitation. Give thanks to God that almost all of the ASEAN governments have passed anti-trafficking legislation…Laos and Singapore are the exceptions.

· Please pray law enforcement agencies in these nations will cooperate with one another and work together to capture trafficking kingpins or ringleaders. Pray for the resources needed to train law enforcement officers how to deal with trafficking issues and help trafficking victims.

· Give thanks to God that Evi* was able to escape an abusive situation in Jordan and return to her home country of Indonesia. When Evi was 16 years old, she contacted an agency in Jakarta which then placed her in a home in Amman, Jordan as a domestic worker. * Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.

o Pray God will bring healing to Evi who was regularly beaten by her employers and often denied sleep. She was also forced to care for four children as well as keep house.

o Pray she will recover completely from this physical and mental abuse.

o Thanks be to God that Evi was placed in a shelter for trafficked children in Jakarta. Please pray she will be safe from being re-trafficked.

Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia

· Please pray for the 165 million children under age 5 whose bodies are stunted because of malnutrition.

· Pray for these children, one quarter of the world’s children, whose physical and intellectual development is halted or delayed by a lack of proper nutrition. http://www.unicef.org/png/media_20809.html

· Pray for these children who are prone to an early death because of this physical stunting.

· Please keep in prayer children in the 24 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia where there is the highest concentration of stunted children. Pray for the 61.7 million Indian children under age 5 who experience stunted growth. Almost half of India’s children under age 5 experience stunted growth.

· Pray all children might have access to nutritious food, vitamins, and clean water so they might achieve normal brain and body development, so they might achieve all God has intended for them.

United States

· Keep close in prayer 8-month-old Elisha who has been diagnosed with an intrinsic brain stem tumor. Pray his medical team will be able to determine the very best treatment option for this little one. The tumor is intertwined with the nerves in the brain stem making surgery too dangerous to perform and radiation isn’t recommended for a child Elisha’s age. Please pray for Elisha’s complete healing. https://www.facebook.com/MiracleOfElisha

· Give thanks and praise to God for the help Elisha and his family have received at St. Jude’s Children’s Research Medical Center in Memphis, TN.

· Pray for Elisha’s parents as they make decisions about his medical care. Pray they will experience God’s comforting presence during this difficult time, especially since they are also caring for Elisha’s twin sister Emma.

· Pray God will provide the resources this family needs while they are living in Memphis and traveling back and forth to their home in another part of the state. http://tinyurl.com/l2y7t8s http://tinyurl.com/kz8vl9l

Prayer Concerns for the week of June 3, 2013

Bangladesh

· Keep close in prayer children and people affected by a cyclone that struck the southern coast of Bangladesh on May 16, 2013. Give thanks and praise to God this cyclone weakened to a tropical storm before hitting Bangladesh. And thank God for the advance preparation and warnings ahead of the storm…more than a million people were evacuated before the cyclone. http://tinyurl.com/m95zn4f http://tinyurl.com/kep3ulf

· Pray for the thousands of people who lost their homes in the storm. An estimated 100,000 homes were fully or partially destroyed. Pray for families whose crops were destroyed by Cyclone Mahasen and for those who also lost their livelihoods because of it.

· Please pray for the ethnic Muslim Rohingya people whose homes were flattened by heavy rain and winds when the storm hit their remote fishing villages along the southern coast of Bangladesh.

Burma

· Pray for the tens of thousands of displaced Rohingya children and people living in dozens of refugee camps in flood prone areas along Burma’s west coast. Pray for those whose homes were also leveled by Cyclone Mahasen’s powerful winds and rain. http://tinyurl.com/njnvxam http://tinyurl.com/budjqn5

· Give thanks to God for the work of Partners Relief and Development in helping evacuate the most vulnerable Rohingya refugees from the shores of the ocean before the storm arrived. Again, give God thanks this cyclone weakened and didn’t cause the amount of destruction previously feared. http://tinyurl.com/o9p3y2x

· Pray for the Partners’ volunteers and staff as they continue to serve this vulnerable ethnic people group who are still very much in need of food, shelter, medical care, and support. Pray the work to assist the Rohingya in starting schools for their children will progress smoothly.

· Please keep a Free Burma Rangers (FBR) team close in prayer as they are currently on a very dangerous relief mission. Pray God will help them make it out of this situation safely…most relief missions involve risk and danger, but this particular situation is much worse than the normal ones. Pray for the people they are serving who are also in harm’s way. Pray for God’s leading, humility, love, power, and protection for this FBR team and those they serve. www.freeburmarangers.org

Burma, Bangladesh

· Please continue to pray for peace between two ethnic groups in Burma’s western Rakhine (formerly Arakan) State. Animosity between the predominately Buddhist Rakhine and the predominately Muslim Rohingya goes back many years to when the Rohingya first came to Burma from Bangladesh. Pray for reconciliation and understanding between these two ethnic people groups. http://tinyurl.com/b6yb96y

· Pray for the estimated 800,000 Rohingya children and families that live in abject poverty near Burma’s western border with Bangladesh and for the estimated 300,000 Rohingya refugees who are believed to live in Bangladesh. The Rohingya are denied citizenship in both Burma and Bangladesh.

· Pray the government of Burma will have a change of heart towards the Rohingya who are restricted from moving freely, finding jobs, or accessing basic services like healthcare and food aid.

· Pray for children and families that have been forced from their homes because of increasing violence between the two ethnic groups. Pray for those who live in overcrowded displacement camps where they lack medical facilities, latrines, shelters, blankets, and regular food distribution. http://www.partnersworld.org/

United States

· Give thanks to God that a missing 14-year-old North Dakota girl was found after an extensive search throughout the eastern part of the state. Pray this teenage girl will receive counseling and help after being in a three-month online “relationship” with an adult male, then being lured to his apartment. Pray for the alleged predator, a 20-year-old man who also is accused of giving the girl drugs and alcohol. Please pray that parents will closely monitor their children’s online activities. http://tinyurl.com/bvq5d36

Burma

Please keep a Free Burma Rangers (FBR) team close in prayer as they are currently on a very dangerous relief mission. Pray God will help them make it out of this situation safely…most relief missions involve risk and danger, but this particular situation is much worse than the normal ones.

Kenya

· Please pray for two new babies, Mercy and Moses, who have recently arrived at Naomi’s Village.

· Pray that Mercy, who is approximately 15 months old, will grow stronger and healthier now that she is in a loving, stable environment where her needs are met. Mercy was found abandoned near the entrance to a high school and only weighs 13 pounds. Pray she will thrive, be able to express emotion, and learn to trust again.

· Pray newborn Moses will also grow strong and thrive at Naomi’s Village. Moses was abandoned at a charcoal-making facility in a nearby town shortly after his birth. Give thanks to God he was found, taken to a hospital, and then placed at Naomi’s Village.

· Thanks be to God that 9-month-old Hannah is doing so well now. When Hannah came to Naomi’s Village, she was 3 weeks old and only weighed four pounds. Praise God she has gained weight and is a beautiful, happy baby!

· Please continue to pray for the staff and volunteers at Naomi’s Village as they care for Mercy, Moses, Hannah, and the 37 other children at the home. Pray God will provide the resources needed to care for each child. Pray also that God will continue to provide stamina, energy, and good health for each caregiver. http://naomisvillage.com/

United States

· Please pray for three children, 7-year-old Lizzie, 9-year-old Lina, and 11-year-old McKyle, and their disabled mother as they struggle to survive homelessness in the San Diego, CA area. When they can afford it, the family stays in a hotel, but much of the time they are staying on the streets. Pray for stability in this family…that God will provide affordable housing, food, medical care, and an opportunity for the children to attend school full time.

· Keep 6-year-old Jace held close in prayer as he has been having seizures that originate in the area of his brain where he had a stroke. Pray for a miracle of healing for this little boy who has endured so much. Jace was born with a severe heart defect and has gone through multiple surgeries to repair it.

o Give thanks to God that Jace, who was abandoned at the gate of a local orphanage when he was only 5 months old, was taken to New Day Foster Home when he was 3 years old. Thanks be to God that Jace found a forever home two years later and is a very happy boy, despite his medical prognosis.

o Pray God will give his parents strength, comfort, and faith as they go through another challenging time with their beloved son. http://tinyurl.com/bwd4p46

United States, Oklahoma Tornado

· Please keep the children and people of Moore, Oklahoma close in prayer as they begin recovery from a massive tornado that devastated large parts of this Oklahoma City suburb on May 20, 2013. http://tinyurl.com/mcx4sp5

· Pray for the families of the 24 people, including 10 children, who were killed when this F5 tornado cut an estimated two-mile-wide, 17-mile-long path through neighborhoods and business/shopping centers.

· Pray for those injured when the buildings in which they took shelter collapsed around them. Neighborhoods were flattened; two elementary schools and a hospital were destroyed or severely damaged; and businesses and stores in the path of the tornado were also leveled. http://tinyurl.com/l7zudx7 http://tinyurl.com/pjxmclt

· Pray for the children, teachers, and staff of the two elementary schools that were in the direct path of this powerful tornado. Give thanks to God for the adults who shielded children with their own bodies during the tornado’s devastating assault. Thanks be to God for teachers who tried to keep their students calm during this frightening experience. Pray for healing and peace for children and adults who experienced great trauma during this terrifying event. http://tinyurl.com/jvowt4l

· Please keep in prayer the families of the seven children that died in one elementary school. Pray for God’s comfort and peace to be with them all.

· Give God thanks for all of the first responders, law enforcement and fire department personnel, and volunteers who immediately began the search for survivors and victims.

Prayer Concerns for the week of May 20, 2013

China

· Please lift in prayer 14-month-old Talley who was born with defects in her heart, ears, nose, throat, and gastrointestinal tract and now has been diagnosed with biliary atresia. Pray for a miracle of healing for Talley who needs a liver transplant or she will die by the time she is 2 years old. http://tinyurl.com/ctdd2ce

· Give God thanks for the staff and volunteers of New Day Foster Home for their tender care of Talley and so many other babies and toddlers born with severe health problems. Pray God will sustain and encourage them in this special work with children who have been abandoned because of their medical issues.

Russia

· Please keep in prayer Russia’s 600,000 “orphans” in what is known as the third great wave of orphaned children (the first two followed both world wars). Pray for these children—70 to 90 percent of whom have birth parents still living—pray for those who are either placed with relatives or in orphanages that are already overflowing.

· Pray for children in state-run orphanages—many have at least one disability. Pray for those who were born with a disability caused by alcohol or drug consumption during pregnancy. Please pray for those who have developed disabilities during their stay in state-run orphanages—every month in an institutional setting has a negative physical impact on a child’s brain.

· Pray Russian adoptive parents will receive the support they need to raise children with special needs or medical problems. An estimated 10,000 children are returned to orphanages every year by frustrated adoptive parents.

· Pray for a change of heart when it comes to the way Russian bureaucracy deals with families under stress. Pray the traditional patterns will change. Instead of taking custody of disabled children and children of parents unable to cope with them, pray the focus will shift to helping families stay together. Pray that adoption and foster care of toddlers and older children will be promoted. http://tinyurl.com/dxszla5

United States

· Please hold Emily and Jacques close in prayer as they grieve the death of their newborn baby girl, Addy Hope. Pray for God’s comfort and peace to surround these parents and their four other daughters, 7-year-old Dryden, 5-year-old Soleil, 4-year-old Mackenzie, and 3-year-old Lily, during this season of loss and sadness. Pray for continued healing for Lily and Mackenzie who were adopted a year ago from China and who each have significant health challenges. http://tinyurl.com/cur5vca http://tinyurl.com/c885z2a http://tinyurl.com/d2lnpp2

· Please keep in prayer children with learning differences as they face many challenges at school and throughout life. Pray for the one in ten school children in the United States who experience learning differences. Pray all children with learning differences will receive the proper diagnosis early on and find support and help to learn coping and compensation skills. Give thanks to God for the creative adults who find better ways to reach and teach children with learning differences. http://tinyurl.com/cbdxrr5 http://tinyurl.com/cul3h75

· Pray for parents of children with learning disabilities as they negotiate the diagnostic and treatment options available for their children. Pray for a community of support for parents who are feeling overwhelmed or isolated by their children’s conditions.

United States

· Give thanks to God for the arrest of an accused child pornographer who had been on the run for almost five years and on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list for a year. http://tinyurl.com/c9ed2ja http://tinyurl.com/cdotylr

o Pray for the children with whom this man had contact over the past years…he taught third grade at an elementary school and tutored students for free; he has also worked as a nanny, teaching assistant, youth counselor, and a camp counselor at an all-boys summer camp.

o Pray for the boys of whom he allegedly took sexually explicit photographs while he was staying in their homes or babysitting them. Please pray the images of these children being sexually abused will all be retrieved so the children won’t be victimized further.

o Pray for justice for every child allegedly injured by this man. Pray for their physical and emotional healing.

o Pray for this alleged predator/child pornographer…that God will be at work in his life, healing and redeeming him.

United States—Foster Care Prayer Vigil

· Pray for the more than 400,000 children in the foster care system in the United States. Pray all children in the system will experience God’s love through the love and care given them by those involved in the child welfare system. http://tinyurl.com/dy2cr8g

· Please pray God will provide each child with a “forever family” and that God will prepare the hearts of these children to be ready for the families God will provide.

· Pray God will open doors to keep sibling groups intact or in contact with one another as they grow up.

· Please pray God will heal the deep hurts that foster children have experienced and protect them from future harm.

· Pray God will transform the children’s lives and hearts. Pray they will be able to forgive those who hurt them.

· Pray for the hundreds of thousands of young adults in our country who have “aged out” of the child welfare system. Pray they might still find a “forever family” to call their own and find mentors to help them navigate life wisely. Pray they might know how much they are loved by our Gracious God.

Prayer Concerns for the week of May 6, 2013

Canada

· Please keep in prayer nine girls, between ages 13 and 17, who were trafficked into prostitution in Ottawa by three other teenage girls. The victims were lured to a home using social media, given alcohol or drugs to control them, and then taken by taxi to the homes of men who allegedly paid to have sex with them. Pray for the emotional, physical, and spiritual healing of these young victims of sexual exploitation. Pray for justice for these teenage girls…that those who prostituted or abused them will be held accountable for their actions.

· Pray for the teenage girls, two 15-year-olds and a 16-year-old, who ran this alleged prostitution ring and who now face charges including human trafficking, procuring for prostitution, abduction, forcible confinement, robbery, sexual assault, assault, uttering threats, and printing and publishing child pornography.

· Pray for the four men who allegedly paid to have sex with the trafficked girls…that they will come to truly understand how their behavior devastates young lives. http://tinyurl.com/cxzn94d

Haiti

· Continue to keep the estimated 320,000 homeless people close in prayer as they face evictions from their make-shift homes in temporary camps set up in Port-au-Prince after the January 2010 earthquake. Pray for children and families who’ve been evicted without notice off public spaces by Haitian authorities or private property by landowners ready to reclaim their land. Pray for an increase in affordable housing in Port-au-Prince—the housing shortage was severe even before the quake with about 70 percent of the population living in slums.

· Pray for the girls and women who prostitute themselves to be able to survive or feed their families. Pray for those who struggle to survive in the camps. Poverty, overcrowding, and horrible living conditions coupled with the scarcity of jobs often compel women and girls to exchange sex for food. http://tinyurl.com/cd967ez

Kenya

· Keep the 38 children and the staff and volunteers at Naomi’s Village in prayer as they deal with heavy rains that have caused mudslides near this home for orphaned and at-risk children. Pray the roads leading to Naomi’s Village will become passable soon. Please keep in prayer 2-year-old Francis and 7-year-old Jane, the two newest children at Naomi’s Village, as they adjust to life in their new home. https://naomisvillage.com/

· Give God thanks that the CURE International Hospital on the Kijabe mission station didn’t sustain structural damage in a mudslide there. Thanks be to God the patients and staff are all safe! Please pray for CURE’s staff and volunteers as they assess the impact this mudslide will have on the hospital and the other ministries in which they are involved at the mission station. http://cure.org/hospitals/kenya/ http://tinyurl.com/bpm3ys5

· Pray for those who have lost homes and loved ones in the flooding and mudslides. An estimated 90,000 people have been displaced by the flooding and 62 have died, including children buried alive in landslides. Pray for those who have lost their homes, crops, and livestock. Please pray for those who are stranded and for those without access to food, dry shelter, clean water, and medical care.

· Pray Kenya’s government will be able to implement water harvesting and water management during these periods of heavy rain as their country swings between drought and flooding almost every year. http://tinyurl.com/c6l6l76

United States

· Please pray for children who are abused and neglected. Pray for the safety and healing of each child abuse victim. Pray they have someone they can turn to in times of crisis or emergency. Pray every child has the opportunity to grow up in a nurturing environment, free from harm and fear. Pray for raised public awareness of child abuse and neglect. Pray more people will step forward when they recognize a situation of child abuse and report it.

· Pray for the women and men who work for child protective organizations around the country as they serve abused and at-risk children and struggling families. Give God thanks they are willing do very challenging and difficult work—investigating situations of abuse and neglect, removing children who have been hurt, working with parents to help them regain custody of their children, and placing children in safe homes. Pray for the safety, emotional health, spiritual well being, and leadership skills of these workers. Pray God will bless them with wisdom in their interactions with children, parents, advocates, and those in the legal system.

Burma

· Please continue to keep Nancy* and the children for whom she cares at Hallelujah Orphanage in Burma held close in prayer. Pray God will provide the resources Nancy and her family need to care for all 11 children (ranging in age from 9 to 18) in their home. Pray God will bring complete healing to Nancy who has been suffering from severe stomach pain for quite some time. Please pray this pain will be relieved soon.

*Name changed for confidentiality and/or protection.

· Pray for the little girl at this orphanage who didn’t pass her exam when all the other children passed theirs. Give God thanks these children have the opportunity to attend school and receive an education. Thanks be to God the children are able to attend a special conference at a church near their home where they will learn more about Jesus Christ.

China

· Keep the people of China’s Sichuan province close in prayer as they deal with the aftereffects of a powerful 6.6 magnitude earthquake on April 20, 2013. Pray medical and humanitarian assistance will be able to reach the thousands who were injured as many roads in this mountainous region were made impassable by the quake. http://tinyurl.com/crlvql5

· Pray for children and families whose homes were damaged or destroyed in the earthquake, the 712 aftershocks, or the landslides triggered by the quake. Pray for those who don’t have safe or warm shelter in this mountainous area that has also been experiencing recent rains.

· Give thanks to God that no schools collapsed in this quake. In the 7.9 magnitude earthquake that killed more than 70,000 people in May of 2008, many poorly constructed schools collapsed, killing hundreds of students.

· Please pray for the families and friends of those killed in this disaster. Pray God will comfort them and provide them with a community of support and care. http://tinyurl.com/c5erxyk

United States

· Pray for the families and friends of two girls who committed suicide in unrelated incidents last weekend. Pray for 17-year-old Brooke’s family as they grieve and struggle to understand why she took her life. Pray for Andrea’s family as they also mourn the life of this eighth grader who was allegedly bullied at school.

· Please continue in prayer for the victims of the April 15, 2013 bombings in Boston. Pray for healing and comfort for the 264 people, including at least 10 children, who were injured when two bombs were detonated near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Pray for the families and friends of the three people, including an 8-year-old boy, who were killed. http://tinyurl.com/cgp8l9k http://tinyurl.com/c5gejfu

o Please keep in prayer those who witnessed this devastating attack, especially the children who saw the carnage of damaged limbs and bloodied bodies.

o Pray for first responders and hospital staff who treated the injured.

o And pray for the young man who allegedly participated in this attack.

o Pray for the healing grace of God to be with all those affected by this horrible attack.

· Please be in prayer for those affected by the massive explosion and fire at a 10-acre fertilizer plant in West, Texas on April 17, 2013. http://tinyurl.com/d5hudr6 http://tinyurl.com/azaj42g

o Pray God will comfort the families and friends of the 14 people, 10 of whom were first responders, killed when a fire ignited chemicals at the fertilizer plant and triggered a massive explosion.

o Pray God’s healing touch will be upon those who were injured in this huge explosion.

o Please keep in prayer those whose homes in the residential area near the plant were damaged or destroyed by the explosion. Pray for children and families who were displaced by it.

Wycliffe Bible Translators has lots of free resources for teaching kids about how important Bible translation and literacy are to the advance of the gospel around the world, especially among the least reached peoples.

Their Fun Fact Activity Page series features different regions of the world: Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and the Pacific. Downloadable two-page documents include regional maps, cultural facts, recipes, crafts, puzzles, and information on Bible translation. Two sets are available–one for grade-school children and one for pre-readers.

Need something meatier? Wycliffe also created a 12-lesson series for elementary ages called Steps to Bible Translation. Free, downloadable lessons are 20-40 minutes in length. Content focuses on both translation and literacy. Suggestions for how to use these lessons in smaller units or for shorter chunks of time is provided. This set is available in Spanish as well.

Looking for a mission project for your kids? The Seed Company’s OneVerse project was perfect for the elementary-age children at my church. OneVerse helps fund Bible translation among groups with no scriptures in their heart language. On their website, you can choose the group you’d like to sponsor and get some general information about their culture and religious beliefs. Because much of their translation work is in sensitive areas, OneVerse assigns the culture and language a code name. We called our mission giving project “Adopt a Verse.” Here’s what we did:

1. We started by showing the OneVerse video Without (free to download) and then talked about what it would be like to live your whole life without a Bible or any knowledge of the true God.

2. We introduced the people group we would be helping and showed the country where they lived on a world map. The kids thought it was cool that they had a code name because the translators were working in secret. We talked about reasons why translators may need to do their job “undercover.”

2. We explained that each verse costs $26 to translate and showed them the Bible box that we would use to collect money. Each child took home a parent letter explaining our project.

3. Over several weeks, we taught about the religion of our group, Hinduism, and what it would be like to grow up with Hindu beliefs instead of the truths of God’s word. We used a lesson called Meet Amita for this.

4. I found a website that has John 3:16 in many different languages and created samples of some of these to use as a progress chart. Each time we collected enough money to translate a verse — $26, $52, $78 — I put up a new sheet with a John 3:16 translation on our missions bulletin board. This was a quick, visual way for kids to keep track of how we were doing.

5. On the final day of our project, we donated our money online, using the screen and projector so the kids could see what was happening. Afterwards, we prayed for the Hindu families who would receive Bibles.

6. The following week, we told the children the exact verses that they had helped to translate.

You might also want to tell your parents about this online game that teaches children about Bible translation. The Seed Company partnered with the Duggar family to create MakaziVille. After creating this own avatar, children visit a fictitious village in the African country of Tanzania. They learn about village life and see how important it is to have God’s word in your own language.

Prayer Concerns for the week of April 15, 2013

Democratic Republic of Congo

· Keep the children and people affected by fighting in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo held close in prayer. Pray for the 800,000 people who have been displaced from their homes and now live in unofficial camps where they don’t have access to humanitarian aid. http://tinyurl.com/cagwkfe

· Pray for children who don’t have a safe place to live, enough food to eat, clean water to drink, access to medical care, or an opportunity to go to school. Only one in nine people displaced by this fighting in North Kivu province live in an official IDP (internally displaced person) camp where aid is distributed regularly.

· Please pray for the safety of girls and women in the informal as well as official camps. Security for females in these camps is very poor.

· Give thanks to God that the International Organization of Migration (IOM) is taking on the task of coordinating humanitarian aid to these informal IDP camps. Pray aid is distributed to the neediest children.

Sudan

· Give God thanks for the major breakthrough in getting food aid to displaced people in Sudan’s war-torn Blue Nile state. The government had refused to allow the United Nations to deliver emergency assistance to this area until just recently. Pray for children in this region where malnutrition rates for those under age five are extremely high.

· Continue to pray for peace between the Sudanese army and rebel militias who have been fighting for more than a year and a half. http://tinyurl.com/c8sxdbf

United Kingdom, Scotland

· Pray for young people and children who are trafficked into Scotland to work as sex slaves or domestic servants, tend illegal marijuana factories as forced labor, or to work in organized crime syndicates. Pray for the safety of these young victims who come from Asia, Africa, or Eastern Europe. http://tinyurl.com/bt6ayka

· Give God thanks for the change in the way police view and treat trafficking victims… that children, young people, and adult trafficking victims will no longer be treated like criminals.

· Pray law enforcement officers will be able to identify victims of trafficking and assist them in finding the help and support they need.

· Please pray for trafficking victims who are held in Scottish prisons…there are more victims imprisoned than traffickers. Pray for justice for these victims and those who trafficked them into slavery.

United States

· Keep in prayer the thousands of young girls across the United States who submit photos of themselves to online beauty pageants on social media sites where they are judged based on their appearance.

o Pray for the safety of those who make themselves vulnerable to adult strangers by failing to keep their identities and locations private on social media sites like Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.

o Pray for young girls, some as young as 12 or 13, who are vulnerable to verbal attacks or hateful comments about their appearance, especially at a sensitive period of their development, by others on the social media site. http://tinyurl.com/dy34hop

o Pray for parents who struggle to keep up with, understand, or monitor the fast-paced changes in technology and social media their daughters and sons use with ease and regularity.

· Continue to keep close in prayer the children and youth living on the Spirit Lake Reservation in North Dakota. Pray for their safety and protection from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. Please pray for strong, courageous leaders to come forward in the tribe to protect the children living on this reservation. http://tinyurl.com/bv2lkoa
